The shepherd brothers

Two brothers have a flock of sheep. One day a purchaser makes them a bid: "I will give you so euros per sheep as sheeps you have in the flock". The brothers accepted and the purchaser payed them using just 10 euros notes and 1 euro coins. There was less than 10 coins. In order to divide the money, the older brother took a note, then he gave his brother a note, and he followed this way sharing out the notes between them. The last note was for him. Then, the younger brother said: "You got the first note and the last, so you have 10 more euros than me". And the older replied: "Take all the coins". After that, the younger said: "But there are less than 10 coins, you have more money anyway". Finally, the older proposed: "Ok, I will make out a cheque to you in order for us to have the same money". The question is: What is the cheque value?

The hen and the eggs

If one and a half hen lays one and a half egg in one and a half day, how many eggs will lay nine hens in nine days?

The carpet

The carpet in the figure below is a 12 x 9 rectangule. It has a rectangular hole in the middle of size 8 x 1. How can we cut the carpet in two pieces in order to build a 10 x 10 square carpet?

We have two identical balls with the same mass and volume. One of them is solid and the other one is empty. How can we distinguish between them without breaking them?

The Rocio's train departs at ten o'clock. If she walks at 4 Km/h to the train station she will be five minutes late. If she runs at 8 Km/h she will be ten minutes early. What is the distance between Rocio and the train station?

We are in a plain tarreain and we have a canion. Which is the angle we have to shoot with in order for the length of the projectile path to be maximum?

The balance

We have twelve identical balls. All of them have the same weight except one. The problem consists in guessing which ball has a different weight and if it is ligter or heavier than the rest. The only tool that can be used is a scale and three oportunities for weighing the balls.
